Deleted page - Frank Golding (author)
[edit]Hi there, You recently deleted a draft biography page I created for an author, Frank Golding, on the grounds that the sources were largely from the subject himself. I tried to include a substantial amount of source from reputable newspapers and archives, but I would be happy to return to the draft and add more if it could be restored. Finally, if there is any wikipedia guidance on striking a balance for sources for memoirists that would be helpful - the details of the subject's biography are of course sometimes unavoidably best drawn from his own published work because memoir is about the self. Many thanks for your consideration. DeEsCeHa (talk) 02:32, 8 January 2025 (UTC)DeEsCeHa

Burnt fynbos
[edit]Hi Jimfbleak. Hope 2025 has ricked off just right for you. I came across a reference to burnt in the Portuguese translation of the article, and I see that you introduced that element here. Could you please clarify, so I can adjust the Portuguese to read better? Thanks. Rui ''Gabriel'' Correia (talk) 13:13, 8 January 2025 (UTC)
- Rui ''Gabriel'' Correia, that's going back a bit! Bustards are birds of open country, and the bushy nature of fynbos would be unsuitable, but burning effectively creates open habitat, at least until the shrubs regrow. Jimfbleak - talk to me? 14:32, 8 January 2025 (UTC)
- Thanks, that makes sense. As a child I used to see them running at dusk in the Iona National Park in Namibe Province in southern Angola, which – like you said – is open country. Rui ''Gabriel'' Correia (talk) 14:50, 8 January 2025 (UTC)
